Our Services
Jacques Erasmus Physiotherapists provides a physiotherapy service to clients both as in-patients and out-patients.
Patients visiting as an out patient could do so without a referral unless it is a requirement of their medical aid. Patients in hospital receive physiotherapy on referral of their treating consultant, surgeon or physician.
Assessment
Your physiotherapist will do an in-depth assessment of your injury or impairment. This will help your physio to understand what the source of your symptoms are to develop a personalized treatment plan.
Treatment
Your treatment will be specially designed to treat your impairment, improve your function and prevent re-injury/re-occurrence. Treatment modalities will be guided and recommended by your physiotherapist that will best treat and manage your pain/condition.

Treatment Modalities
Manual Therapy
Manual therapy is used to increase range of motion and reduce pain and muscle spasms.
Dry Needling
Dry needling is a technique we use to treat myofascial pain. We use a “dry” needle, without medication or injection, inserted into the area of the muscle, known as trigger points.
Chest Physiotherapy
Chest physiotherapy are treatments that help improve respiratory efficiency, promote lung expansion, strengthen respiratory muscles, and help eliminate secretions from the chest.
Rehabilitative Exercises
We will assist you in your pre & post operative rehabilitation journey through designing personalized home exercise programs, use of manual therapy and reducing your pain.
Taping/Strapping
Kinesio and dynamic taping is utilized to offload injured muscles with the aim of assisting in the healing process. Strapping is more rigid and utilized to stabilize injured joints and to prevent further injury.
Electrotherapy
Electrotherapy entails the use of various electrical stimuli aimed at the management of pain and tissue healing by enhancing circulation and managing effects of inflammation. Electrotherapeutic modalities are also useful for the management of muscle spasms and myofascial triggerpoints, especially when a more “hands-off” approach is indicated. These modalities include but are not limited to Ultrasound, Interferential, TENS, Muscle Stims.
Education
An integral part of physiotherapy management is education. Understanding your specific injury and/or condition is crucial to recovery and therefore we strive to educate you on all related aspects. This would typically include explanation of the anatomy affected, how it is affected and what to do for recovery. Posture, kinetic handling, ergonomics and theory on exercises will all form part of education during treatment
